The Orry Mill in Eaglesham, just south of Glasgow, is a Knitting for Olive stockist in Scotland. We carry their Merino, Soft Silk Mohair and Pure Silk yarn bases as well as a range of ready-to-knit kits, both in our physical shop and online with UK-wide delivery. If you're looking for a specific colourway or kit not currently shown in stock, contact us directly — we can often place orders on request.

Knitting for Olive Merino is a 100% non-mulesed merino wool, soft and warm, which works at a fingering to light DK tension. Soft Silk Mohair is a laceweight blend of 70% traceable kid mohair and 30% cruelty-free mulberry silk — it is designed to be held alongside Merino on the same needles to add halo and warmth. The two yarns are specifically sized to be stranded together, which is how most Knitting for Olive patterns are designed to be worked.

Yes — ethical sourcing is central to the brand. Their Merino comes from certified farms in Patagonia where mulesing is not practised. Their mohair is sourced from South African farms certified under existing animal welfare standards. The silk used in both Pure Silk and Soft Silk Mohair is cruelty-free bourette silk, meaning the moths are allowed to emerge from the cocoon naturally before the fibres are collected. All yarns are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and fully traceable to farm level.

A Knitting for Olive kit contains the pre-measured yarn quantities needed to complete a specific pattern in your chosen size, in a single colourway or combination. Most kits are sold with the pattern included or reference a specific KFO pattern available separately. Kits remove the need to calculate yardage or match dye lots, making them a popular choice for gift-giving and for knitters who want to start a project with everything in hand. Difficulty levels range from beginner through to advanced.

Knitting for Olive was originally designed for baby and children's knitwear, and their Merino is a particularly good choice for projects worn next to the skin. It is 100% non-mulesed merino — a fibre that is significantly softer than standard wool — and is certified under Oeko-Tex Standard 100, meaning it has been tested against a range of harmful substances. Their pattern range includes a wide selection of baby and children's sizes, from newborn upwards, including cardigans, sweaters, hats and trousers.
