The Project

Orry Yarn is our next step forward and a big ambition for us.  A yarn designed with precision, purpose and a deep sense of place. After seven years building The Orry Mill in Glasgow, teaching hundreds of knitters, designing patterns, and growing a community that believes in craft done well, we’re ready to launch something new:

A 16-colour palette inspired by Scotland’s landscapes, light and weather.
15 knitting kits, each designed for this palette.

This Kickstarter is how we introduce Orry Yarn, with transparency, intention and the energy that’s always driven our shop and our community.

Orry Yarn is modern craft with Scottish soul: wool with attitude, made with heart.

Why We’re Making Our Own Yarn

There’s no shortage of brilliant yarn in the world. We stock it, we knit with it, and we champion the people who make it. The industry is full of talent and deserves respect.

But after years of teaching, designing and knitting we were ready to create our own Orry Yarn.
We wanted a yarn that felt like Scotland in a modern voice.
We wanted a Scottish yarn brand complimenting Tildes Danish design background that matched the bold, clean design language that we think is the future of knitting and craft.

We wanted a yarn that carried the same energy as our knitters: creative, confident, a bit gallus, and not afraid to stand out.

What we set out to build:

A contemporary Scottish palette
Sixteen tones shaped by the west-coast light. Granite washed by rain, deep fern green, soft heather tones and muted gold of west coast beaches. Not nostalgia. Not cliché. Just the real colours of here.

A yarn that supports clean, modern design
Smooth texture, crisp stitch definition, and colours that make patterns feel alive,wearable and fresh.

A brand with attitude and heart
Craft that’s proud, modern and honest. Yarn that knows where it comes from, and isn’t shy about it.
