What is Isager Alpaca 2?
Isager Alpaca 2 is a fingering weight or 4 ply yarn that is 50% Alpaca and 50% merino - super soft that is ideal for baby garments. However It is so soft that it is not hard wearing. It makes lovely special adult garments but care should be taken.
As it is so soft it is also ideal for accessories such as scarves and great for stranding with other yarns to give a rich texture. A popular choice to strand it with might be a silk mohair.
It comes in a 50g hank and 250 meters length.
What can I knit with Isager Alpaca 2?
Some patterns and garments that are worth looking at are of course Isager own patterns designed by Marianne and Helga Isager, but PetiteKnit regularly suggest using Isager Yarns in many of their patterns.
Lace Scarf by Helga Isager
First the ’body’ of the scarf is knitted, working back and forth with short rows. Then stitches are bound off at the beginning of the scarf for the first knot, then a lace edge is knitted
sideways onto the scarf, so that the last stitch of the lace edge is knitted together with a stitch from the ’body’ of the scarf on every right-side row. At the end, stitches are bound off at the end of the scarf for the second knot.

Poetry Sweater by Marianne Isager
The pullover is worked from the bottom to the top using circular knitting needles. Selvedge stitches are added at the armhole locations. Then, the Back and Front are worked separately back and forth in rows (as was done in the swatch). The shoulders are knitted together. Stitches are picked up around the armholes and the Sleeves are then knitted straight out.
This pattern uses three yarns the Alpaca 2 , the Spinni and Tvinni

PetiteKnit Ellen's Cardigan
Ellen’s Cardigan is knit flat from the top down with raglan increases. The neckline is shaped with short rows. The cardigan is knit in stockinette stitch, with a vertical rib along the front edges for the button bands. The buttonholes are worked at the end (so you do not need to work them as you knit the button band together with the body of the cardigan). The sleeves are knit in the round in stockinette stitch either on double pointed needles (dpns) or on circular needles using the Magic Loop technique. As an extra detail, Ellen's Cardigan features inner pockets.
