Garter Cardigan is a simple, easy-to-knit baby cardigan in garter stitch, worked from the top down. It's knitted back and forth, with raglan increases on the yoke that form a decorative eyelet line down each side of the raglan seams. A good first garment, and quick enough that you'll want to make more than one.
The sleeves are intended to be worked back and forth and seamed along the underarm at the end, though you can work them in the round if you'd rather avoid the seaming.
Knitted in Knitting for Olive Merino, the finished cardigan is soft, light, and gentle against a baby's skin.

Finished measurements:
- Length, shoulder to edge: approx. 22 (24, 26, 28, 30, 33, 35) cm
- Chest circumference: approx. 40 (44, 49, 51, 54, 57, 60) cm
- Sleeve length, underarm to edge: approx. 13 (14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23) cm
Gauge: 28 sts x 56 rows to 10cm (4") in garter stitch, on 3mm needles, measured after blocking

- 2.5mm needles, circular 60cm long or straight
- 3mm needles, circular 60cm long or straight
- 3mm double-pointed needles, only if working the sleeves in the round

A note on the needles
The pattern specifies circular needles, but the cardigan is knitted flat and at these sizes the stitch count never gets high enough to need a cable. Straight needles are perfectly comfortable throughout, so use whichever you prefer, around 30cm or 35cm long is ideal.
If you'd rather use circulars, 60cm cables are a comfortable length, and 80cm will do just as well if that's what you already own. Either way you're working back and forth, not in the round.
You only need the double-pointed needles if you choose to work the sleeves in the round rather than flat.
