Sandnes Garn - Atlas

Atlas is Sandnes Garn's aran weight blend of Norwegian lambswool and merino, spun to be noticeably softer than a traditional Norwegian wool without giving up the character that makes those yarns last. The lambswool brings body and structure, the merino takes the prickle out of it, and the result is a yarn that works next to the skin as happily as it does over a shirt.

Perfect for jumpers, cardigans, hats and scarves, and anything you want off the needles quickly. At 18 stitches to 10cm it knits up fast on 4-5mm needles, and the gently marled shades give a soft depth of colour that suits simple stocking stitch, texture and cables alike. The range runs from natural undyed tones through to the PetiteKnit signature palette, so it sits comfortably alongside Peer Gynt for anyone working a designer pattern.

Wool is breathable and rarely needs washing, so airing a garment between wears is usually enough. When it does need cleaning, machine wash separately on a wool programme at a maximum of 30°C, spin well, and dry flat on a towel. Use a wool detergent, skip the fabric softener, and never use a laundry bag for hand-knitted wool, as the friction can cause felting.
