We've just received a fresh delivery of Knitting for Olive Merino yarn, and with it comes an exciting new addition to our palette — French Anemone, a rich, beautiful shade that sits perfectly alongside the existing collection. If you're looking for a new project to cast on this spring, this is a gorgeous place to start.

Knitting for Olive Merino is one of our favourite yarns in the shop, and it's easy to see why. Made from 100% virgin merino wool, it's incredibly soft against the skin and comes in 50g balls with 250m per ball. That makes it wonderfully versatile — ideal for baby garments, shawls, lightweight jumpers and cardigans, and all kinds of accessories.

Pattern Ideas
Not sure what to knit? Here are some of our recommendations: From Knitting for Olive's own collection, the Baby Cardigan, the Garter Cardigan, the Olive's Blanket, and the Fern Tee all work beautifully in this yarn — Thilde has knitted the Fern Tee herself and it really is stunning in the merino.
Over on Ravelry, the Marble Mount Sweater by Georgie Nicolson is a beautiful option, and Petite Knit has several patterns that pair wonderfully with this yarn, including the Friday Tee (available in both baby and adult sizes) and the Emily Tee (available in children's and adult versions).
Bring Back the Heirloom Shawl
One project we'd especially love to encourage is the traditional baby shawl. It feels like a bit of a lost art, but when Thilde speaks to non-knitters, so many of them have vivid memories of these shawls — whether it was their own as a child, or one their mother or grandmother knitted for them. There is so much love and memory wrapped up in a piece like that.
These shawls become heirloom pieces, handed down through families, or perhaps the wee one's most treasured comforter. Knitting for Olive Merino is a perfect choice for something this special — lightweight, incredibly soft, and made to last.
Why not bring that tradition back?.
