Use the table below to understand the most common knitting pattern abbreviations.

| C4B | cable 4 back, slip 2 stitches purl wise onto a cable needle and keep them at the back of your work knit 2 stitches from the left needle, then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle. |
| C4F | cable 4 front, slip 2 stitches purl wise onto a cable needle and keep them at the front of your work knit 2 stitches from the left needle, then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle. |

| sl | aka s slip a stitch. If they don't specify, slip the stitch purl-wise....Unless you are decreasing: then, slip it knit-wise on the knit rows, and purl-wise on the purl rows |
